Im thinking about making a timelapse of my grow

  •  I’m planning to create a timelapse of a plant growing from seed to maturity (likely something fast like basil or a sunflower) and would love advice on the best setup. For the camera, should I use a DSLR/mirrorless or will a smartphone work well enough, and what intervalometer or app is best for automated shots? Should I rely on natural light or invest in budget-friendly grow lights for consistency? How do I keep the camera stable for weeks—tripod, wall mount, or DIY solutions? Power and storage are also concerns—should I use an external battery or AC power, and how big of an SD card or cloud backup will I need? For software, what’s the best way to compile the images (Lightroom, LRTimelapse, or free alternatives)? Also, what’s the ideal shot interval (every 5 mins? 30 mins?), and how can I minimize disruptions like temperature changes or moving the plant?

  • I did something similar during my last indoor run and used a webcam plugged into my laptop with a free timelapse program—super simple setup. Also, while checking time lapse tips, I stumbled on some cbd reviews that mentioned how cool it is to track growth for strain documentation. Made me think about doing one for each new strain I pop. Helps remember what was what without digging through notes.
