Does anyone know what kind of caterpillar this is eating the plant?

  • PEST ID: Cabbage Looper (Trichoplusia ni)

    CONFIRMATION:

    - Pale green, soft-bodied, with white stripes running down both sides

    - Moves in a looping “inchworm” motion

    DAMAGE:

    - Chews large holes in fan leaves

    - Will eat  leaves and fruit if unchecked

    CONTROL:

    - Manual removal daily

    - BT spray (Bacillus thuringiensis kurstaki) — organic and safe in flower

    - Spinosad (for earlier stages, not during bloom)

    - Predators: parasitic wasps, lacewings

    TIP:

Check under leaves at dusk with a flashlight. They feed hard at night and hide well during the day.
